Ashton Ridge Homes is currently building Energy Star qualified homes in Rockwood and Guelph.
What does an Ashton Ridge Energy Star Home mean to you?
1. Energy Star Qualified Home Program is offered as a modest upgrade to all single Ashton Ridge detached family homes. We want to keep our home prices affordable to most buyers so we offer this as an option to those who want to participate. The monthly energy savings would more than cover the additional monthly mortgage payments for the Ashton Ridge Energy Star Home upgrade features.
2. The energy usage of an Ashton Ridge Energy Star Home would be approximately 30% less than a comparable house built to minimum Ontario Building Code standards.
3. The forced air furnace is equipped with a variable speed motor for efficiency.
4. New Energy Star certified appliances are available to purchase with your new Ashton Ridge Energy Star Home as an additional option.
5. Energy Star certified programmable thermostat provided to allow different heating / cooling settings throughout the day. Able to reduce usage automatically during peak times.
6. All of the Ashton Ridge Energy Star Homes have a Heat Recovery Ventilator system to provide a continuous flow of warm, fresh air to your home while reducing dust and moisture from inside while the furnace is in operation. A healthier home is a result.
7. All of the Ashton Ridge Home windows are Energy Star certified Low E Argon Gas filled. This standard minimizes the heat loss through the glass and provides filtered light into your home which reduces sun damage to carpets and furniture.
8. High efficient hot water rental tank as standard in our Ashton Ridge Energy Star Homes.
9. Minimum SEER 13 high efficiency air conditioner for those participating in the Ashton Ridge Energy Star program, and want air conditioning in their new home.
10. The forced air ductwork on the main lines from the furnace are taped to minimize air loss. This will ensure that your rooms will be heated and cooled as designed.
11. Air tightness tested on every Ashton Ridge Energy Start Home conducted by an independent certified contractor.
12. Heat loss and heat gain calculations performed on every Ashton Ridge Energy Star Home by an independent certified HVAC contractor.
13. Exterior basement walls will be fully covered within insulated blankets. Optional studded basement exterior walls are available for those home owners wishing to finish their basements.
14. Increased insulation in attic from R40 to R50.
15. Wall construction detail utilizes an addition insulating board on the exterior side of the framed wall to create a thermal break with a Total R Value of 19.5. This is a superior method of insulating exterior walls.
16. If your Ashton Ridge Energy Star Home has a living space above a garage, R31 spray foam will be used.
17. A Drain Water Recovery Unit is installed to help recover the heat “going down the drain” from showers, baths, dish washers and upstairs laundry. Simple technology that can save you money on hot water costs.
18. As energy efficiency awareness increases, your house will be worth more than a comparable non-Ashton Ridge Energy Star Home. This means an increased resale value for you.
19. Energy efficient Compact Florescent Light Bulbs installed in all Ashton Ridge Energy Star Homes where applicable.
20. Insulated exterior and Cold Room man doors installed from living space (inside your heated home) to exterior (to garage, cold room, or outside).
21. An Ashton Ridge Energy Star Home overall reduces your carbon footprint due to the reduction of overall energy usage – which is great for you, your community, and the planet!
